Auxilium Academy draws inspiration from the legacy of the Salesian Sisters (Daughters of Mary Help of Christians), founded by St. Don Bosco and St. Mary Mazzarello. Their vision emphasizes holistic education, nurturing of values and empowering youth to become their best selves. The Salesian Sisters have established schools across India and other countries rooted in the philosophy of love, reason and religion. Their institutions focus on spiritual growth, academic excellence and character formation.
The Salesian sisters arrived in India in 1922, beginning their mission in Tanjore, Tamil Nadu. Over the years, they have expanded to various States of India establishing schools, colleges, vocational training centers, youth hostels, social work initiatives, and healthcare services. The congregation is divided into several provinces, including Kolkata, Chennai, Mumbai, Guwahati, Bangalore, Shillong, Trichy, and Hyderabad, each overseeing numerous institutions dedicated to holistic formation and empowerment.
In Tamil Nadu, the Salesian Sisters are effective educators and administrators of several Matriculation Schools, Matriculation Higher Secondary Schools, State Board Higher Secondary Schools, Technical Schools, Arts and Science Colleges, and a B.Ed. College in various parts of the state. One such institution is Fatima Convent in Kodambakkam, which had its beginning on January 8,1958. Even before the convent’s opening, the Fatima Matriculation Higher Secondary School had already been established in July 1957 as a Primary school, marking the first institution of its kind in the area. The primary aim of the school was to provide education and moral formation to the youth in and around the locality, which was still in the early stages of development. With a focus on integral development, it fosters confidence, compassion and a deep sense of responsibility toward society, shaping the young minds to be committed, service-oriented individuals.
